Host Family !!

                                            Mijn plaatsing is rond!! :D

Als je zelf ooit een uitwisselingsjaar gedaan hebt, herken je het vast wel: ‘iedereen’ lijkt al een gastgezin te hebben, behalve jij. Nou is dat natuurlijk niet helemaal waar, maar toch kan je niet wachten totdat je een bericht krijgt dat je een gastgezin hebt! Welnu… Een aantal weken geleden was het eindelijk zover! Ik had een gemiste oproep van een regiovrijwilliger, en een berichtje met het verzoek om terug te bellen, want mijn gastgezin was bekend!! Terwijl ik half door het huis aan het stuiteren was van enthousiasme, belde ik terug. Ik kreeg kort daarna een bestand via de mail toegestuurd over mijn gastgezin. WOEHOEEEEE!! Ik ben zo blij!!  

Het gastgezin bestaat uit een moeder, vader, dochter (15) en zoon (18).
Mijn gastbroer woont niet meer thuis omdat hij dicht in de buurt van zijn universiteit woont. Als ik daar 6 maanden ben, gaat mijn gastzusje ook via AFS een jaar naar Australië. Het gezin heeft al drie keer eerder als gastgezin opgetreden, maar nog nooit voor een Europeaan. Ze hebben ook twee honden en een konijn. Ik ben pas nog op allergie getest omdat ik hier nogal bang voor was, maar gelukkig ben ik niet allergisch. Wel hoop ik dat mijn astma er niet op zal reageren. Ik ben echt zo blij dat ik nu een gastgezin weet! Inmiddels hebben we een aantal mailtjes uitgewisseld, en ze zijn echt super aardig! Ik kan niet wachten ze te ontmoeten!! 

Ik zal trouwens gaan wonen in een kleine stad van 70.000 inwoners, genaamd Inuyama. Het ligt in de prefectuur Aichi, centraal Japan. 30 kilometer van Nagoya, een grote stad. Ik ben echt blij! Toch is het jammer dat het echt ver van Hirado ligt. Maar dit geeft me natuurlijk wel de kans om een ander gebied van Japan te ontdekken, en absoluut niet de minste! Na een beetje zoeken op internet kan ik stellen dat Inuyama best toeristisch is, en een heeul mooi kasteel rijk is. De foto’s die ik vind zien er in ieder geval prachtig uit. Ik zal trouwens naar school gaan in Konan.

Kortom, ik ben super blij met de plaatsing!! Kan niet wachten om mijn gastgezin te ontmoeten :D

                                           Placement information!

If you have ever done an exchange year yourself, you probably recognise the following: ‘everyone’ seems to have a host family already, except you. Of course that isn’t really true, but still you can’t wait until you get a message that your host family is decided! But then…. It was my turn! A few weeks ago I saw a missed call from a regional AFS volunteer, who also left me a text message to ask if I could call back. While I felt (and acted) like a bouncing ball, I called back. A short while after the call, I got the information mailed to my computer. WOEHOEEEEE! I am sooo glad!!

The host family consists of a father, mother, son (18) and daughter (15). My host brother doesn’t live at home anymore, because he lives nearby his university. After I have been there 6 months, my host sister will go to Australia with AFS. The family has already been a host family 3 times, but never for a European student yet. They also have two dogs and a rabbit. I got tested on allergy recently because I was a little afraid of that, but fortunately I turned out not to be allergic. I do hope my asthma will not react on the animals. I am really amazingly happy to know my host family by now. In the mean time we have exchanged a few e-mail already, and they are really kind! I can’t wait to meet them!!

I will live in a small city of 70.000 inhabitants, called Inuyama. It’s located in the Aichi prefecture, central Japan.  It’s only 30km from Nagoya, a big city. I’m really happy! However I had hoped it would be just a little nearer Hirado. Yet, this will give me an opportunity to explore another side of Japan, and an amazing one too! After searching a while on the internet, I can tell Inuyama is a touristic place, and has an amazingly beautiful castle. The pictures I find from Inuyama look fabulous! I will attend school in Konan.

Concluding, I am suuuuper happy with my placement! I can't wait to meet my host family!
